Nicola placed nationally 2nd in Two Baton, 5th in Solo, 11th in X-strut, and 13th in 3 Baton for her individual competitions. In addition she competed in College Solo, Down the Field, Field Goal Post Toss, Signature Twirl and Collegiate WOW events along side over 70 Collegiate Twirlers from all around the country. Lastly, as Runner Up in the Miss College Majorette of Illinois, which was held in May, she competed for the first time in the Miss College Majorette of America competition.
She says that “Being part of the First ever Collegiate Spectacular Show, the AYOP BIG SHOW, and twirling with so many of my peers from all around the country was very exciting and motivating! I am looking forward to Band Camp, where I can practice new tricks for the field show this year”
Nicola is a junior at Eastern Illinois University and will be returning to campus for her 3rd year as the Feature Twirler for the Color Guard unit of the EIU Panther Marching Band with 3 National Medals and an Illinois 2 Baton Championship title earned this summer at the Illinois State Championships.
The EIU Panther Marching Band is under the new leadership of Dr. James Hile, as Assistant Director of Bands. Allison Christian is the Color Guard coach.
